Dialys Riley

A little bit about me I am the eldest daughter of a military/ government household. We grew up moving place to place and adapting to new environments and people. I have played many different sports but in high school was on Varsity Tennis, Varsity Golf and Varsity Bowling. I wanted to go into the science field because my natural state is to ask questions. I want to know more, how does it work, how far can we push the limits. In my personal life, I always push myself to be the best version than yesterday. I love to paint, go to the movies, try new adventurous activities and spend time with my family.

I’ve been married to my wonderful husband for 9 years and this year we have my amazing son that joined us this past January. Background in Education I graduated from Sam Houston State University with a major in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. I have experience working in a major laboratory as a microbiologist and have conducted multiple research studies.

My teaching experience includes environmental and organic chemistry and the various disciplines of biology. I love science in every aspect and finding our inner wonder for how things work can inspire individuals to think outside the box. I look forward to teaching my students what they need to know and so much more.

Why did I come to virtual school? The pandemic changed many lives when it hit including teachers. It changed how we approached learning and how we approached our teaching methods. New programs and strategies grew and I loved all of it! (Not the pandemic part) I continued to use strategies that I had adopted during this time when we went back to in person learning and wanted to grow my students more, to prepare them for their future in a culture of technology forward society we are growing to be. I love meeting with my students now and pushing them further than what they expected they could do.
