Characteristics of a Virtual Student

Grades 5 & 6

Students who wish to attend The Conroe Virtual School must submit the Application Form.

The student and parents/guardian should consider the following typical characteristics of a successful virtual school student when applying:

  • STAAR meets or masters

  • Self-motivated educationally

  • Minimal assistance with learning; self-engaged and self-problem solving

  • Minimal accommodations or services provided due to limitations via virtual

  • Mature for their age

  • High integrity/character

  • Able to learn and establish (with the minimal assistance of parents and the virtual school) a learning structure/routine/environment to maximize learning

  • Seeks help when they struggle or do not understand

  • Parents who support their student but value the importance of their child learning the material and demonstrating proficiency independently

Grades 7-12

Students who wish to attend The Conroe Virtual School must submit the Application Form.

The student and parents/guardian should consider the following typical characteristics of a successful virtual school student when applying:

  • Self-motivated educationally

  • Independent; self-engaged and self-problem solving

  • Is at the meets or master’s level for STAAR/EOC

  • Minimal accommodations or services provided due to limitations via virtual learning

  • Mature for their age

  • Able to independently create a learning structure/routine/environment to maximize learning

  • High integrity/character

  • Seeks help when they struggle or do not understand
